GREAT CLIPS
GIVING A FRESH NEW LOOK ON SOCIAL
Great Clips is the official hair salon of the NCAA. Spending time working on campaigns for the NHL, NFL, NBA, and College Football championships — I worked on a team that created a space for Great Clips to make sports + haircuts a relevant conversation.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL WITH WALKER HAYES:
When back-to-school season hit and Country music artist, Walker Hayes, released a new single ‘Haircut’ Great Clips knew there was an opportunity to lean into the human truth that every kid wants to feel confident on their first day back to school.
Knowing Hayes had cultivated his own personal content and career around his family and six kids, we knew this would be the perfect partnership for Great Clips.
I was brought in to develop the social concepts, write the scripts, and build out all social messaging we would pitch to Hayes' team. Tapping into current trends at the time and the two hours we knew we had with him, this is how we brought our Back-to-School season to life with Great Clips and Walker Hayes.
Hayes and his daughter posted an initial TikTok video dancing to ‘Haircut’. Great Clips then commented as an authentic teaser to the partnership.
2. Hayes then responded to our comment with a video on his personal TikTok. The video started with our comment appearing in the first couple seconds on screen, a native engagement to this platform.
3. We responded with this comment.
SHOW YOUR FLOW CAMPAIGN:
The Assignment: Create an ownable platform surrounding “Hockey Hair” that would drive extensive media coverage and social media conversation leading up to and during the NHL Playoffs. Reinforcing Great Clips position as the Official Hair Salon of the NHL for the casual and die-hard hockey fans.
Show your Flow In Action: A three-week long contest that encouraged fans to submit a photo or video of their Hockey Hair flow for a chance to be inducted into the first-ever Hockey Hair Hall of Fame.
The grand prize winner of the Show Your Flow campaign received a trip and tickets to the NHL Awards in Nashville. The winner and other Hockey Hair Hall of Fame inductees were also featured during a minute-long segment during the NHL Awards broadcast on TNT.
The results speak for themself:
4. From there, Great Clips released remaining content on all of their social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) diving deeper into why kids should head to Great Clips for the back-to-school season to find the confidence they need for the first day of school.
Partnered with NHL All-Star Jack Hughes and Canadian Gold Medallist Sarah Nurse to serve as judges and star in social content promoting the campaign.
Also partnered with social media influencers (Cost n’ Mayor, The Cline Twins, Jesse Pollock) to get haircuts at Great Clips and create content to inspire fan submissions.
